“Undertone” had its world premiere at last August’s Fantasia International Film Festival, where it won the Audience Award, and was picked up by A24 a few months later. It’s now set for a March 13, 2026 release. Will it be the next big sleeper horror hit?
A trailer has appeared for this one, and it’s all about sonic tension. The movie follows a paranormal podcast host who listens to eerie recordings sent by a married couple, the unsettling noises in their home triggering a spiraling descent into madness. Could be fun.
This is a low-budget indie — made for less than $500K — with no big names. It stars Nina Kiri, Adam DiMarco, Michèle Duquet, Keana Lyn Bastidas, and Jeff Yung. Ian Tuason writes and directs “Undertone”; it’s his feature directorial debut.
Since it screened at Fantasia many months ago, there are already reviews for “Undertone,” including five listed on Rotten Tomatoes — all fresh and very positive. Let’s keep an eye out for this one as it inches closer to its release date.
