Yorgos Lanthimos’ ‘Bugonia' Poster Turns Heads at Venice

August 25, 2025 Jordan Ruimy

It seems Yorgos Lanthimos can do no wrong when it comes to movie posters. His last film, “Kinds of Kindness,” had a great one, and now there’s buzz on the Lido over the latest reveal, right near festival headquarters, for “Bugonia,” which can be seen below.

I’m not sure what the imagery might hint at about the film itself, but that’s Emma Stone with a shaved head and honey dripping on top of her. Stone’s role seems to be co-lead alongside Jesse Plemons. The groovy ’70s sci-fi aesthetic of the poster does put her front and center.

Nobody really knows what to expect when it comes to “Bugonia,” but like all of Lanthimos’ other films, it’ll probably be a blend of unsettling imagery, meticulous production design, and oddball storytelling. I would expect the full trailer to drop around the time it premieres at Venice on the 28th.
