Cosmo Jarvis, whose breakout year has included the FX hit “Shōgun” and this spring’s acclaimed “Warfare,” has had to part ways with Christopher Nolan’s “The Odyssey.”
Jarvis was lined up for a notable role in the ensemble-heavy adaptation, but a last-minute scheduling conflict forced him to bow out just before cameras rolled on his scenes. The reason? Jarvis is gearing up to headline “Young Stalin,” a biographical portrait of the Soviet leader’s early years.
Stepping in to replace Jarvis is “Prometheus” and “Upgrade” actor Logan Marshall-Green, who has quietly built a reputation for intense, brooding performances. Details of the role remain tightly under wraps, in typical Nolan fashion.
Meanwhile, Charlize Theron is said to be imminently starting her portion of the shoot, with speculation pointing to her playing the mythical enchantress Circe. Production on “The Odyssey” has spanned an impressive array of international locales—Morocco, Greece, Italy, Ireland, Scotland—with some Los Angeles work rounding it out.
