A24 & Chris Rock’s ‘Misty Green’ to Star Rosalind Eleazar, Daniel Kaluuya (!), Adam Driver, & Anna Kendrick

July 28, 2025 Jordan Ruimy

As I first reported here in May, Chris Rock was prepping a new film called “Misty Green.” Details are now starting to spill about this project, which started production last week (via Deadline).

A24 is on-board. The principal cast is also filled with talent. Rosalind Eleazar (“Slow Horses”) has landed the titular lead role. This marks Rock’s first collaboration with A24 and his most ambitious directorial project to date.

Joining Eleazar is an ensemble cast, which includes Rock, filled with talent: Adam Driver, Daniel Kaluuya, Anna Kendrick.

The film follows Misty Green, a once-promising actress whose career has been derailed by personal and professional setbacks. Her fortunes shift when someone from her past offers her an unexpected shot at a comeback.

This will be Kaluuya’s first acting gig in three years, he hasn’t been seen on-screen since Jordan Peele’s “Nope.” Since then, Kaluuya shot his directorial debut, “The Kitchen,” released in 2023. He’s a great actor, and it’s great to see him get back in the fold.

Driver just wrapped production on James Gray’s “Paper Tiger,” and has Jim Jarmusch’s “Father Mother Sister Brother” set to premiere at Venice in September. He’s also rumored to star in Michael Mann’s “Heat 2” (whenever that happens).

Rock has directed three features to date, all comedies, with 2014’s “Top Five” having received the best reviews of the lot. “Misty Green” being in production also means we’ll have to wait just a little longer for Rock’s “Pootie Tang” sequel. That’s fine, but he should know that there’s still an audience out there for that one.

Expect more to emerge as production on “Misty Green” continues — and don’t be surprised if this one lands somewhere on A24’s fall 2026 slate.
