In shocking news for the film industry, BAFTA Rising Star winner Micheal Ward has been charged with multiple sexual offences, including two counts of rape.
The 27-year-old actor, whose career seemed to be on the rise, with roles in “Empire of Light,” “Lovers Rock,” and “Eddington,” was charged by the Metropolitan Police with two counts of rape, two counts of assault by penetration, and one count of sexual assault. The alleged offences involve a single woman and are reported to have taken place in January 2023.
Ward, who was born in Jamaica and raised in the UK, rose to prominence with “Blue Story.” He went on to work with filmmakers such as Steve McQueen, Sam Mendes and Ari Aster. His career was on the upswing, but now these legal troubles have put any plans he’s had to a halt.
This is a developing story, but a public statement revealed that Ward is scheduled to appear at Thames Magistrates’ Court in London on August 28.
