Here’s the trailer. Oscar nominees Ariana Grande and Cynthia Erivo are returning to wrap up the ‘Wicked’ saga in its final chapter,
Directed by Jon M. Chu, “Wicked: For Good” is set to premiere in theaters on November 21. Based on the footage, the color grading already seems like a significant improvement.
Dorothy and her companions—the Scarecrow, Tin Man, and Cowardly Lion—are set to appear in “Wicked: For Good.” While the original stage musical featured Dorothy only briefly, Chu has indicated that the sequel will expand her role, offering a more prominent presence in the narrative. Irish actress Alisha Weir is set to take on the role made iconic by Judy Garland.
The two-part film adaptation of the Tony Award–winning Broadway hit premiered last November and earned nearly $750M worldwide, The movie also earned 10 Academy Award nominations, and won two Oscars.
This film faces a tough challenge, as Act 1 of the stage show is generally considered stronger and more engaging. Of course, the original musical has been around for over two decades, so hopefully Chu and his team have found a way to strengthen Act II and give it the impact it needs.
Honestly, it’s pretty straightforward. If you enjoyed the first film, you’re probably grabbing a ticket opening weekend. If it wasn’t your thing, you’re likely skipping it entirely.
