Latest ‘Weapons' Trailer Drops!

June 23, 2025 Jordan Ruimy

A full two-minute trailer for Zach Cregger’s “Weapons” just landed this morning. And yes, it looks gorgeously horrific. Cinematography and framing are top-tier.

We had already reported that “Weapons” tested through the roof, prompting New Line to bump the release up from January 2026 to August 8, 2025. With this teaser now out, buzz has only intensified.

The trailer sets up a chilling mystery: Julia Garner plays a schoolteacher whose entire class vanishes — not the whole school, just her students. At exactly 2:17 a.m., every student got out of bed, walked outside... and never came back. Josh Brolin shows up as a furious father demanding answers, asking the question on everyone’s mind — why her class?

Structurally, the film is ambitious. Told from six different POVs — teacher, parent, cop, criminal, principal, and student — the script is a narrative mosaic. “Magnolia” was Cregger’s major inspiration. I read the screenplay last year and can confirm: it’s bold, unsettling, and genre-bending in the best way.

The ensemble cast is stacked with talent: Josh Brolin, Julia Garner, Brian Tyree Henry, Tom Burke, Alden Ehrenreich, Austin Abrams, Benedict Wong, and June Diane Raphael. No weak links here.

After the unexpected success of “Barbarian,” Cregger suddenly became Hollywood’s horror golden boy. “Weapons” is his big swing — and if it connects, it could fully launch him into the top tier of genre auteurs. He’s also locked in to direct the upcoming “Resident Evil” reboot, reportedly with a $20M paycheck. That one starts shooting this fall.

For now, though, “Weapons” looks like the one to watch.
