Rejoice, stoners! Fire up the nostalgia (and whatever else you’ve got lying around), because John Cho and Kal Penn are eyeing a return to their most iconic roles.
According to THR, ‘Harold and Kumar 4’ is officially in development, with Cobra Kai creators Jon Hurwitz and Hayden Schlossberg returning to steer the ship. Their longtime partner-in-crime Josh Heald is also on board.
The franchise launched in 2004 with “Harold and Kumar Go to White Castle,” a stoner odyssey that became a cult classic thanks to its absurd set pieces, and the chemistry of its two leads fully committing to the bit. It was followed by ‘Escape from Guantanamo Bay’ (2008)—a sequel that tried really hard but mostly coasted—and 2011’s “A Very Harold & Kumar 3D Christmas which, shockingly, turned out to be kind of a holiday gem. (Go ahead, judge me).
No deals are finalized, but the vibe is that it’s happening. Now all that’s left is to pray the fourth trip is more ‘White Castle’ than ‘Guantanamo.’ They might as well call it “Harold and Kumar Go Back To White Castle.”
