Golden Globes Will Have Best Podcast Category for 2026 Edition

May 7, 2025 Jordan Ruimy

The Golden Globes are expanding their scope beyond just film and television.

In an effort to attract a broader audience and boost viewership, the awards show has introduced a new category: Best Podcast.

Traditionally, the Globes have focused on performances—actors, comedians, and other entertainers who take center stage. Even the addition of Best Stand-Up Comic somewhat fit that mold, spotlighting a central performer.

But a podcast? That could mean anything, from interviews and investigative journalism to cooking shows. It’s unclear exactly what kinds of productions will qualify. Are Video Games next?

According to the Globes, the top 25 podcasts will be eligible for nomination, with six finalists chosen for the category. However, they haven’t yet revealed what qualifies as a “top 25” or which platform will be used to determine that ranking. More specifics are expected soon. Still, the lack of clarity has raised eyebrows—and concerns.

Could Joe Rogan seriously be nominated? Some of the other top podcasts include “Call Her Daddy,” “Theo Von,” “The Megyn Kelly Show,” and “Pod Save America.”

This move feels like another step away from the Globes’ original identity. The Penske-owned award show continues to humiliate itself.
