Craig Brewer's ‘Song Sung Blue' Sets Christmas Day Release — Stars Hugh Jackman & Kate Hudson

April 22, 2025 Jordan Ruimy

Might be a coincidence, I doubt it, but “Song Sung Blue” recently test-screened, and now, just a few days later, has been given a December 25, 2025, release date via Focus Features.

Hugh Jackman, no stranger to singing on-screen, stars in “Song Sung Blue,” and he’s bringing Kate Hudson along for the ride. The film is based on the true story of a married couple in Milwaukee, who make a name for themselves as the duo “Lightning & Thunder,” a Neil Diamond cover band.

It’s definitely worth mentioning that Craig Brewer is the writer and director of ‘Song Sung Blue.” Brewer’s made a handful of strong films, including “Hustle & Flow,” and “Dolemite Is My Name,” but recently got a nice big fat paycheck to helm the critically panned “Coming 2 America.”

Coinciding with the release date announcement, “Song Sung Blue,” which also stars Michael Imperioli, and Jim Belushi, has revealed a first look image, which can be seen above. No word yet about how last week’s test screening went, but it’s quite clear that Focus is pretty confident about this title.
