Joseph Kosinski’s UFO Conspiracy Thriller Officially Lands at Apple Studios

After a heated bidding war, Apple has officially landed the rights to Joseph Kosinski’s untitled UFO whistleblower thriller. Zach Baylin penned the script. No coincidence, Apple is producing Kosinski’s upcoming “F1,” starring Brad Pitt, and set for summer release.

The project, described in pitches as a “UFO disclosure-themed take on All the President’s Men,” tackles the true story of two men working in national security who uncover a secret program to recover and reverse-engineer crashed UAP’s.

Kosinski was said to be going for “authenticity” in his pitch to studios. Former United States Air Force officer – and UFO whistleblower – David Grusch has been acting as a consultant on the project. In 2023, Grusch testified before Congress that the government has been studying the spacecraft and bodies of aliens, while also suppressing the information from reaching the public.

Sources tell THR that filmmaker Kosinski, despite a resume that includes only five movies, “secured an eight-figure deal that puts him near the top of the director ladder, with fees that are comparable to such figures as Christopher Nolan and Steven Spielberg.”

Before “Top Gun: Maverick,” Kosinski was mostly known for directing the Tom Cruise starring sci-fi film “Oblivion,” “Tron: Legacy” and “Only the Brave.” He also helmed the 2022 Netflix clunker “Spiderhead.”

Regardless, ever since ‘Maverick,’ Kosinski’s stock has risen, and he’s become one of the most sought-after blockbuster filmmakers in the industry. The heated interest in his UFO project only further proves just how badly studios want to work with him. Oh, and don’t be surprised if Tom Cruise suddenly becomes attached to star in this one.
