Barry Levinson somehow got $50M to shoot his mob movie “Alto Knights,” starring Robert De Niro. This is a film that has been described as, Warner Bros head honcho, David Zaslav’s “pet project.” ‘Alto’ is supposed to hit theaters four weeks from now, and tracking has been absolutely terrible on it. Matt Belloni is reporting that it’s currently being projected for a $3M opening. Yikes.
Netflix and Skydance Animation have also called it quits. The two sides announced Monday that they're ending the animated film deal struck back in 2023, framing it as a mutual decision.
