A lot of pessimism surrounded my weekend story about Jordan Peele potentially signing on for a Marvel movie. I’ll admit—I’m currently in the “believe-it-when-I-see-it” camp on this one. Peele’s known for keeping his projects close to the vest, so rumors like this always come with a healthy dose of skepticism.
Yet here’s Peele’s production company, Monkeypaw, retweeting the Marvel story with an 👀 emoji. Take it however you want. That single emoji is enough to set speculation on fire, and in the internet age, fans will read a lot into the tiniest hint.
It’s clear talks between both parties have been happening for over a year, and maybe Peele has finally hopped on board one of Marvel’s projects—maybe even “Blade,” just sayin’. Whatever the case, if this pans out, it could mark a curious new direction for Peele.
Edward Berger seems to have settled on what comes next. His Lance Armstrong biopic, starring Austin Butler, is now holding casting calls, with production eyed for January.
