Robert Eggers on ‘Labyrinth’ Sequel: “I Have A Ton of Things in Development”

January 23, 2025 Jordan Ruimy

Yesterday came the news that Robert Eggers’ next film would be “Werwulf” which has already set up a December 25, 2026 release.

You might have wondered, what happened to his rumored “Labyrinth” sequel? When asked about it, Eggers doesn’t necessarily deny it, but neither confirms it either. He’s just hinting that it’s one of the many projects he currently has in development (via ComicBook)

“The thing is, I always have a ton of things in development because you need to survive in this industry, and you don’t know what is going to hit next,” he told the outlet.  “But I definitely want the next film I make to be an original movie.”

So, up next is “Werwulf,” and currently in development seems to be ‘Labyrinth,’ “The Knight,” “Rasputin,” and a mysterious western he’s currently writing. There’s no shortage of choice, and given the success of “Nosferatu,” he has the freedom to do whatever he likes at the moment.
