David O. Russell Wants Taylor Swift to Star in His Next Film

June 23, 2024 Jordan Ruimy

Remember when David O. Russell cast Taylor Swift in “Amsterdam” and subsequently killed her off 10 minutes into the movie? Not many people do, that’s because the film was barely seen, and critics hated it.

A new report from Daniel Richtman now claims that Russell wants to again cast Swift in his next project. Which one? Russell currently has five in development, including a Get Smart reboot, the Linda Ronstadt biopic (starring Selena Gomez), a John Madden biopic (starring Will Ferrell), a FIFA limited series, and “Toys” which still has Sacha Baron Cohen and Keke Palmer attached to in the lead roles.

Is Russell picking up all of these projects just to see which one of them sticks? It’s no secret that currently, in some circles of Hollywood, he is a marked man due to his past behavior. Will he even be able to get another film going?

Last we heard from him, he had punched a Sony exec in the gut at an Oscar party. Film-wise, Russell’s latest effort was the 2022 ill-received “Amsterdam,” which lost 20th Century over $100 million.
