Trailer for The Eggers Brothers ‘The Front Room'

June 20, 2024 Jordan Ruimy

Max and Sam Eggers’ horror film “The Front Room,” their directorial debut, has a trailer. Yes, the directing duo are Robert’s siblings. Horror seems to run in the family.

“The Front Room” follows a woman (Brandy Norwood) whose mother-in-law moves into her and her husband’s home and proves to be the worst house guest imaginable. The trailer makes it look like a campy good time, but it’s all elevated by Kathryn Hunter, a consummate theater actress, who seems to revel in playing the mother in-law from hell.

Max Eggers was a co-writer on Robert’s acclaimed 2019 film, “The Lighthouse.” His brother, Sam, has mostly dabbled in non-fiction. Meanwhile, Brandy Norwood known for R&B hits, like “The Boy Is Mine,” has an uneventful filmography to her name. Brandy is arguably best remembered for her turns in “I Still Know What You Did Last Summer,” and “Cinderella.”

The film stars Hunter, Norwood and Andrew Burnap. It will be skipping festivals and going straight to theaters on September 6. A24 is producing this one and it looks like the studio will be continuing their trend of 2024 wide releases — given the genre, I can see this one being a small hit.
