I didn’t expect Benny Safdie’s “The Smashing Machine” to roll its cameras this early, but a Production Weekly listing has production on the A24-produced film set to begin in April. There is the slight chance that we might get to see this one in late 2024, potentially during awards season. I wouldn’t put it past A24 to sneak this one in. “The Smashing Machine”, starring Dwayne Johnson and Emily Blunt, is based on the life of MMA fighter Mark Kerr.
