Aaron Taylor-Johnson to Star in David Mackenzie’s ‘Fuze’

February 8, 2024 Jordan Ruimy

Aaron Taylor-Johnson will lead the heist thriller “Fuze.” It comes to us from “Hell or High Water” director David Mackenzie. The film is “set on a London construction site where an unexploded bomb sparks a mass evacuation – the perfect cover for a heist”.

Mackenzie‘s last film, “Outlaw King,” was a life-long passion project for the Scottish director of “Hell or High Water” and “Starred Up.” The medieval film, starring Chris Pine, Florence Pugh and Taylor-Johnson, landed on Netflix, but was met with mid-level reviews.

I had spoken to Mackenzie not too long after the less-than-ideal premiere at 2018’s Toronto International Film Festival, the filmmaker admitted to me that he rushed the film to the festival by delivering what he called a “wet cut.”

However, after the response at TIFF, Mackenzie went back to the editing room and created a new cut of the film. And this new version, he claimed, was tighter and more assembled than the one shown at the fall festival. However, the bad buzz had already started at TIFF and “Outlaw King” landed with a thud on Netflix.
