Lilly Wachowski Set to Direct ‘Trash Mountain’

February 12, 2024 Jordan Ruimy

Collider has learned that Lilly Wachowski (formerly Andy Wachowski) is set to direct “Trash Mountain”, which will star comedian Caleb Hearon and will be produced by Colin Trevorrow. Here’s the synopsis:

The story follows a gay Chicago man in his 20s who must return to rural Missouri to deal with the death of his father — an obsessive hoarder who has left a house full of items, some valuable and some not so, to pick through.

The project will mark Lilly's solo directorial feature debut, the last film directed was 2015's “Jupiter Ascending”. Yes, The Wachowskis have supposedly split up, which explains Lilly’s upcoming solo debut.

It’s also a much smaller film compared to what Lilly and Lana Wachowski have written-directed in the past, big-budget sci-fi affairs such as “The Matrix,” “The Matrix Reloaded,” “Cloud Atlas,” and “Speed Racer” are part of their repertoire. Lilly had no involvement in 2021’s dumbfounding “The Matrix Resurrections,” which Lana directed.
