‘Anora' Named Best Picture by Los Angeles Film Critics [Updated]

The Los Angeles Film Critics Association (NYFCC), one of the more prestigious critics groups in the country, are currently announcing their 2024 winners. The Best Picture winners this decade have been “Small Axe,” “Everything Everywhere All At Once,” Tár and “The Zone of Interest.”

2024 marks the 50th anniversary of LAFCA and the third year for gender-neutral acting categories by the critics’ group. I’ll update the winners as they come along.

Best Picture: ANORA
Runner-up: THE BRUTALIST

Best Foreign Film: ALL WE IMAGINE AS LIGHT
Runner-up: THE SEED OF THE SACRED FIG

Best Director: Mohammad Rasoulof for THE SEED OF THE SACRED FIG
Runner-up: Sean Baker for ANORA

Best Documentary/Nonfiction: NO OTHER LAND
Runner-up: DAHOMEY

Best Screenplay: Jesse Eisenberg for A REAL PAIN
Runner-up: Sean Baker for ANORA

Best Lead Performance: Marianne Jean-Baptiste, HARD TRUTHS, and Mikey Madison, ANORA
