Damián Szifron Set to Direct ‘The Simulators'

December 25, 2024 Jordan Ruimy

Damián Szifron (“Wild Tales”) has confirmed (via Argentinian media), that he will be shooting his next film, “The Simulators,” early next year. This is actually a movie version of his 2000s TV show.

‘Simulators’ was originally a two-season series that aired on Argentinian television in the late aughts. The four original actors are set to return: Federico D'Elía, Diego Peretti, Martín Seefeld and Alejandro Fiore. The plot tackles a commando group that solves conflicts through simulations; from common problems to extreme situations.

Last year, Vertical Entertainment picked up Szifron’s “To Catch A Killer,” a psychological thriller starring Shailene Woodley and Ben Mendelsohn, and released it in April to mixed reviews. It was a “hit” on Netflix earlier this year, and wound up getting far better audience approval than its initial critical reception.

Before that one, Szifron’s stock was way higher due to having directed “Wild Tales,” one of the major highlights of Cannes 2014. It consisted of six short stories, tackling the extremities of human behavior and what happens when people are pushed to the brink. I highly recommend it.
