The latest “Spider-Man 4” rumor has Sacha Baron Cohen’s Mephisto being part of Spider-Man 4 as the primary villain (via The InSneider).
What might complicate things is a source is saying that Cohen has a top-secret Universal movie due out next year, which he’ll have to promote, but the actor can work around that, I’m sure. This would be a big gig for him.
Marvel boss Kevin Feige is said to have “big plans” for Mephisto a character that was originally rumored to appear in the Disney+ series “Agatha All Along,” he’s now set to debut in another Marvel series, “Ironheart.”
Meanwhile, Zendaya will have a “minor role” in Spidey 4 due to her packed schedule. She’s supposed to shoot the HBO series “Euphoria” from February to July, and “Spider-Man 4” will shoot from June to October, and “Dune: Messiah” will shoot from August/September to January. Will she have time to even breathe next year?
Elsewhere, Charlie Cox’s Daredevil is said to also make an appearance in Spidey 4 which will feature an assortment of symbiotes, and that could very well include Tom Hardy’s Venom.
Daniel Destin Cretton (“Shang-Chi”) is set to direct ‘Spider-Man 4.’ It should also be noted that the film’s release date is just two months after “Avengers: Doomsday” hitting theaters, and just a week after Christopher Nolan’s new film. There’s been talk of the film being moved to December 2026.
The last instalment, “Spider-Man: No Way Home,” ended with the world forgetting that teenager Peter Parker was Spidey. That memory wipe included MJ (Zendaya), who no longer knows who Peter is. The film grossed almost $2B worldwide despite being released in 2021 during the pandemic
Still no distributor for "Bucking Fastard," "Alpha Gang," "The Last Photograph," "Closing Night," and "The Life and Deaths of Wilson Shedd." The issue seems to be quality more than a lack of willingness to buy.
