Glen Powell AI “Erotic Thriller" Sparks Bidding War

December 14, 2024 Jordan Ruimy

There he is again. Glen Powell. You just can’t escape him these days.

Powell is set to star in the erotic thriller “Homewreckers.” The film is being described as a mix between an Adrian Lyne film, like “Unfaithful,” and Alex Garland’s “Ex Machina.” “Homewreckers” is currently being shopped around to studios, and a bidding war has sparked up to acquire it.

The search also is on for Powell’s female co-star in the film — maybe this is the film that reteams him with Sydney Sweeney or Adria Arjona.

“Homewreckers” revolves around Beth and Henry (Powell), a struggling couple whose marriage, fueled by suspicion, emotional distance and regrets, starts to unravel. As Henry becomes consumed by the idea that Beth is seeing someone else, she is offered a surreal opportunity to rekindle her romance for a younger version of Henry via advanced AI technology.

Powell, 35, is everywhere these days. His success on “Top Gun: Maverick,” “Anyone But You,” “Hitman,” and Twisters” has opened up many doors for him. He additionally has three films potentially set for release in 2025, from directors JJ Abrams, Edgar Wright, John Patton Ford, and an already-shot HULU series (“Chad Powers”).

It’s not just the projects he’s set to star in, it’s also the ones he’s rejected. Powell recently confirmed having turned down offers to lead ‘Bourne’ and ‘Jurassic Park’ reboots. Hey, the guy can’t star in everything.

Before Powell broke out big with “Top Gun: Maverick,” he was acting in small-ish roles these last 20 years. Prior to 2022, he was known as that guy from “Spy Kids 3D.” Did you also know he was, very briefly, in “The Dark Knight Rises”? Powell played a trader at the Gotham Stock Exchange who gets his head smashed by Bane.
