Warner Bros. released “Joker: Folie à Deux” on October 4th. To say this $190M film was a commercial and critical failure would be an understatement.
To date, ‘Folie à Deux’ has grossed just $204M worldwide with only $58M of that total coming from North America. Just to put things into perspective, the first one, 2019’s “Joker,” grossed $1B from a budget of just $55M.
With these disastrous numbers in mind, the film was quickly shipped off to VOD last week, no doubt to try and turn in a profit from folks who might still be curious to watch this Gotham musical, and it turns out the home numbers aren’t any better.
‘Folie à Deux’ had a disappointing first week on VOD, debuting in fourth place on both iTunes and Fandango charts — it currently ranks behind “Beetlejuice Beetlejuice,” “Deadpool & Wolverine” and “The Substance” (!!!).
