Coming off his acclaimed “A Real Pain,” Jesse Eisenberg is set to write and direct a musical as his next film. The untitled project will star acting heavyweights Julianne Moore and Paul Giamatti (via Deadline).
The film, taking place in “the high-stakes world of this community theater,” follows a shy woman who is unexpectedly cast in a local production of an original musical. Production is set to begin in early 2025.
This will be Eisenberg’s third film as a director, following “When You Finish Saving the World,” and “A Real Pain” — the latter has been getting loads of awards buzz and is well on its way to garnering a best picture Oscar nomination.
Edward Berger seems to have settled on what comes next. His Lance Armstrong biopic, starring Austin Butler, is now holding casting calls, with production eyed for January.
