According to Daniel Richtman, Disney is eyeing Florence Pugh to play Rapunzel in their live-action version of “Tangled.” Last week, we had reported that the film was officially in development over at the mouse house.
I wouldn’t put much stake in this rumor given that Pugh seems like a smart actress who wouldn’t want to go deep into the Disney machine, despite what will be a very lucrative paycheck offered her way.
Pugh has basically had four well-reviewed performances since her career jump-started around 7 years ago: “Lady Macbeth,” “Midsommar,” “Little Women” and “The Wonder.” She’s shown great promise, and her willingness to star in a Marvel movie — “Black Widow” — seems to have been a one-off (at least I hope).
When one amigo gets hit, the other two show up. That's been the deal for three decades between Alejandro G. Iñárritu, Guillermo del Toro and Alfonso Cuarón, and it's playing out in real time this weekend
