What Goes to Telluride?

June 28, 2023 Jordan Ruimy

Telluride tracker Michael Patterson has posted his first batch Best Bets for the 50th Telluride Film Festival. I’ll just post the main fall fest biggies that he has:

The Holdovers (Payne), Nyad (Chin and Vasarhelyi), Strangers (Haigh) El Conde (Larrain), Poor Things (Lanthimos), Freud's Last Session (Brown), Saltburn (Fennell), The Royal Hotel (Green), Rustin (Wolfe) and Shirley (Ridley).

To tell you the truth, not very exciting. This is with the knowledge that Hayao Miyazaki and David Fincher will be skipping the September fests. Also, Roman Polanski and Woody Allen being persona non grata in the States.

Maybe we’ll also get some of these: Maestro (Cooper), Priscilla (Coppola), The Actor (Johnson), The Bikeriders (Nichols) and Ferrari (Mann). It all depends on their quality, Telluride head Julie Huntsinger is very nitpicky when it comes to curating her lineup.
