Despite controversy, and mixed reviews, Maïwenn’s “Jeanne du Barry,” starring Johnny Depp, has landed a North American distribution deal with Vertical. Yes, the same company known not to buy anything of value. Their whole resume is filled with straight to video offerings. ‘Jeanne’ opened this year’s Cannes Film Festival, and has already been released in France where it’s grossed $4.1 million in its first two weeks of release. No U.S. release date has been announced yet.
