David Robert Mitchell’s ‘80s Dinosaur Movie Sets Fall 2023 Production

March 23, 2023 Jordan Ruimy

It’s actually happening.

A little more than 6 days ago we reported on David Robert Mitchell’s next film which was going to be an ‘80s set dinosaur movie. No further details were given.

Now we’re hearing production is set to commence this fall. Anne Hathaway is set to star. Consider us intrigued by the prospect of a Mitchell comeback.

Mitchell hasn’t made a movie since 2018’s “Under the Silver Lake.” Back in 2020, MGM announced they had picked up Mitchell’s script, “Heroes and Villains.” This was said to be a “genre-bending” take on superheroes that Mitchell would direct for the studio.

That project has now been put on the backburner. Maybe it’ll be shot after this one, but who really knows.

Mitchell is one of the most promising young directors out there. “It Follows” was a Cannes-championed movie that was one of the best offerings of the horror genre in ages.

“Under the Silver Lake” has turned into some kind of cult classic with a subreddit solely dedicated to the film’s never ending mysteries. Mitchell is a rule-breaking filmmaker, and his work in that film shouldn’t have been shrugged off the way that it did.
