A social media gag order has been inflicted on Paul Schrader, courtesy of Magnolia Pictures.
The studio probably doesn’t want to deal with any “problematic” posts from Schrader, especially as ‘Master Gardener’ inches closer to its release date.
Schrader tends to be pretty blunt when it comes to his Facebook posts, which is why his page is one of the most essential for cinephiles at the moment. A mix of political rhetoric, personal stories and movie reviewing, Schrader’s Facebook has caused controversy many times over these last few years.
Back in 2018, as the release of “First Reformed” was weeks away, Schrader had a social media gag order inflicted on him by A24, this after he defended Kevin Spacey on Facebook.
Still no distributor for "Bucking Fastard," "Alpha Gang," "The Last Photograph," "Closing Night," and "The Life and Deaths of Wilson Shedd." The issue seems to be quality more than a lack of willingness to buy.
