Meanwhile, Deadline is confirming the obvious, that Anderson’s film will be at Cannes. We knew this for a very long time now. The last time he was there was in 2021 for “The French Dispatch,” which wasn’t as well-received as we thought it would be.
A re-evaluation of the film did happen post-festival, at least in a few circles, including with Cahiers du Cinema who admitted that repeat viewings helped them reassess the film. They eventually included it in their top 10 of 2021.
