The interns, who were asked to assemble Barack Obama’s annual list of 2023’s best films, came up with a peculiar crop of films this year. It doesn’t look as algorithm-generated as in previous years. Maybe that was the goal.
I chuckle when I see some folks who actually believe that this is Obama’s personal list. The man is a politician. Every single thing he says or does must be curated. Why would this list be an exception?
His Top 10 includes “The Holdovers”, “American Fiction”, “Blackberry”, “Oppenheimer”, “Anatomy of a Fall”, “Monster”, “Past Lives”, “Air”, “Polite Society”, and “A Thousand and One”.
The film is set to shoot in fall 2027. The idea would be to release it in December 2028, timed to Trump's exit from office. Oh, and it's now Warner Bros.' indie label, Clockwork, that's backing the film.
