Teaser for Zack Snyder’s ‘Rebel Moon — Part Two: The Scargiver’

December 25, 2023 Jordan Ruimy

It’s Christmas day and Zack Snyder has decided to grace us, or vex, with the new teaser for his upcoming “Rebel Moon — Part Two: The Scargiver.”

I still haven’t seen “Rebel Moon — Part One: A Child of Fire.” I might wait it out for the R-rated director’s cut, which should appear sometime soon on the streamer. The space opera was hit with negative reviews when it debuted earlier this month, but, like all of Snyder’s movies, there are fans of his that will eat up just about anything he does.

There are plenty of Zack Snyder fans out there — they are loud and vocal about their admiration for the “Justice League” filmmaker. This movie is probably for them. Sadly, I’m not one of them. I found things to like about “Watchmen” and his “Dawn of the Dead” remake, but not enough to convert me to his church of moviegoing.

One of those superfans is noted National Review critic Armond White, who hasn’t been shy in his unadorned, and very vocal, fandom for Snyder’s films, calling him the best living mainstream filmmaker. In his review, White says ‘Rebel Moon’ is “cinematic poetry.” Do any of our readers actually agree with this?

The cast of of “Rebel Moon: The Scargiver” remains just about the same as the original. It includes Sofia Boutella, Djimon Hounsou, Ed Skrein, Michiel Huisman, Doona Bae, Ray Fisher, with Anthony Hopkins as the voice of ‘Jimmy.’ It's also starring Staz Nair, Fra Fee, Cleopatra Coleman, Stuart Martin, Ingvar Sigurðsson, Alfonso Herrera, Cary Elwes, Rhian Rees, E. Duffy, Sky Yang and Charlotte Maggi.

Here’s the official synopsis:

REBEL MOON – PART TWO: THE SCARGIVER continues the epic saga of Kora and the surviving warriors as they prepare to sacrifice everything, fighting alongside the brave people of Veldt, to defend a once peaceful village, a newfound homeland for those who have lost their own in the fight against the Motherworld. On the eve of their battle the warriors must face the truths of their own pasts, each revealing why they fight. As the full force of the Realm bears down on the burgeoning rebellion, unbreakable bonds are forged, heroes emerge, and legends are made.

“Rebel Moon – Part Two: The Scargiver” debuts on Netflix April 19, 2024.
