Kurt Russell Cast in Tarantino’s ‘The Movie Critic’?

October 12, 2023 Jordan Ruimy

Jeff Sneider has heard that “Death Proof” and “The Hateful Eight” star Kurt Russell is expected to be part of the cast of Quentin Tarantino's final film “The Movie Critic.”

Although no official casting has been announced yet, due to the SAG-AFTRA strike, Russell‘s name can be added with already-rumored actors Samuel L. Jackson, John Travolta, and, maybe, Paul Walter Hauser.

The film, which is set in 1977, was aiming to shoot this fall, but the strike delayed those plans. Last month, Tarantino received a tax incentive from the state of California to shoot “The Movie Critic” in Los Angeles.

Tarantino has described the main character in “The Movie Critic” as “Travis Bickle if he were a film critic”. A loner, isolated individual, who happens to review movies for an underground porno magazine.
