Alexandre Desplat is Scoring ‘Barbie’

September 5, 2022 Jordan Ruimy

The amount of talent involved in a Greta Gerwig’s “Barbie” is staggering.

First, we have a cast that includes Margot Robbie, Ryan Gosling and Will Ferrell. Writing the screenplay is none other than Noah Baumbach (alongside Gerwig). The DP is also one of the best in the game, Rodrigo Prieto.

Now we can add another big name. Alexandre Desplat will be composing the score. Some of Desplat’s best-known works include the music for “Birth,” “The Tree of Life,” “The Grand Budapest Hotel” and “The Shape of Water.”

So, just to recap, cast notwithstanding, we have Gerwig, Baumbach, Prieto and Desplat.

The reason why we’re all very excited about this movie is not because we are Barbie fans, but because of the above names. If they were not part of the creative process then this would not be one of our most anticipated movies of 2023.
