Kelly Reichardt’s ‘Showing Up’ Will Be Released in Early 2023

It is now official. According to a person I spoke to from A24, Kelly Reichardt’s “Showing Up” will be released in the Spring of 2023.

“Showing Up” stars Michelle Williams and premiered at Cannes in May. It will screen at the New York Film Festival in a couple of weeks.

I left Cannes the day it was supposed to screen, which was the final day of the fest. I really wanted to catch Reichardt’s latest, but it’s had a fairly journey since Cannes. There have really been no other screenings for it.

“Showing Up” will probably not break out like Reichardt’s previoua film, 2020’s “First Cow”. There are no awards prospects for this film, it’s said to be a fairly small, but intimate affair. Williams is also about to embark on a major awards campaign for “The Fabelmans”, so she’ll be pretty busy.
