Paolo Sorrentino Shooting ‘Sue’ With J-Law Early Next Year

September 6, 2022 Jordan Ruimy

By all accounts, it looks as though Jennifer Lawrence will be busy shooting an unknown film this fall before embarking on Italian filmmaker Paolo Sorrentino’s “Sue” early next year.

We can now scratch this one off of our Cannes 2023 predictions. A Venice premiere for hometown boy Sorrentino is far likelier, especially with the glitzy subject matter and an obvious fall Oscar push from Apple.

Apple won the rights to “Sue” (which might be a working title) early last year. Tackling the life of Sue Mengers, the female agent who broke the glass ceiling and crashed the Hollywood boys club of agenting, Sorrentino is coming off his personal Venice-winning film “The Hand of God.”

Sue Mengers was a very short, chubby, funny, brilliant Jewish woman. This is not perfect casting, it will require transformative makeup and prosthetics for Lawrence to physically inhabit this role.
