Bill Murray is Not in Wes Anderson’s ‘Asteroid City’

July 21, 2022 Jordan Ruimy

The cast for Wes Anderson’s “Asteroid City” was officially announced yesterday and, much to people’s surprise, Bill Murray was nowhere to be found.

We were all left wondering, did his scenes get snipped after the Keke Palmer #MeToo incident on the set of “Being Mortal”?

After all, Murray was livestreamed at the last NYFF alongside Anderson, Adrian Brody, and others from the set of “Asteroid City”. He was clearly in the movie, right? Not only that, he’s the person who revealed the title of the film during a BFI Q&A last November.

Well, it turns out that Murray apparently got COVID as he was just about to shoot his “Asteroid City” scenes and that, in the process, his character was just scratched off the story. I presume he wasn’t an integral part of the movie to begin with, but who really knows …

This all comes to us straight from the higher-ups at Focus who want you to know that it was COVID that took Murray off of “Asteroid City” and NOT his alleged “misbehaviour” on the set of “Being Mortal.”

Murray’s absence from “Asteroid City” ends a nine-film run between Anderson and his long-time acting muse.
