UPDATE: “Elvis” made $13.5 million on Friday. It might very well be on its way to a $35 million opening. The A-CinemaScore it garnered is also very encouraging.
The numbers are in for “Elvis” Thursday previews and they are VERY GOOD.
Baz Luhrmann’s film made $3.5 million, just $400,000 less than “Bohemian Rhapsody,” which would eventually gross over $700 million.
Word of mouth amongst audiences is also said to be very good. The hype is real for this one. You’ll get people from both red and blue states flocking theaters this weekend.
We’re looking at a $35-40 million weekend.
Paul Greengrass’ "The Uprising," starring Andrew Garfield, opened to $3.2M from 2,068 theaters this weekend. Yikes. The budget hasn’t been disclosed, but is said to be in the $20-$30M range.
