‘Being Mortal’: Bill Murray/Aziz Ansari Movie Might Remain Unfinished

June 3, 2022 Jordan Ruimy

Production on Aziz Ansari’s “Being Mortal” began on March 28th in Los Angeles. Then three weeks later, on April 20th, the shoot was derailed when Searchlight received a complaint from an actress complaining about “inappropriate behavior” on the part of Murray.

Production on the film, which was halfway done, shut down and never started back again. Now, RS is getting word that Ansari’s agents were shopping the film around at the Cannes market. It turns out, Searchlight doesn’t want to touch it anymore, but the problem Is that there is zero interest for it.

A real shame. Now the film might never be finished and just become a part of Hollywood lore. It does complicate matters that the rumoured person to have made the complaint against Murray was his co-star Keke Palmer.

“Being Mortal” stars Murray, and Seth Rogen.

The film is based on Atul Gawande’s nonfiction book “Being Mortal: Medicine and What Matters in the End”. The plan was to release the film sometime in 2023.
