Golden Globes: ‘Banshees’ Leads the Pack With 8 Nominations

For some reason, the same hypocrites who called for the Golden Globes to be permanently canceled last year are now talking about them again.

The Globes are set to make their return to broadcast TV on January 10 after scrapping the 2022 telecast. The HFPA voting body swears they made internal reforms to appease to the mob’s demands. Now everybody seems seem ready to forgive and forget …

A few takeaways:

• “The Banshees of Inisherin” leads with 8 nominations. It's most likely winning Best Drama here. It’s the most nominations a movie has gotten since 2003

• Rough day for “Women Talking.” It only got two nominations (Screenplay/Score). I’ll have a piece up either today or tomorrow explaining why I believe it might also underperform at the Oscars.

• “Women Talking” and Danielle Deadwyler were snubbed.

• Ana de Armas gets a surprise nomination for her astounding work in “Blonde.”

• Diego Calva and Brad Pitt got nominated in their respective categories. So did “Babylon” as Best Comedy/Musical.

• Hong Chau, Stephanie Hsu and Janelle Moná snubbed in the Supporting categories.

• “The Woman King” earned just one nomination, for actress Viola Davis.
