Alec Baldwin Accidentally Shoots and Kills Crew Member on Movie Set; Who Loaded the Gun With a Real Bullet?

By now you’ve heard of the tragic events that occurred on the New Mexico set of a movie called “Rust” starring Alec Baldwin. Cinematographer Halyna Hutchins was killed after a prop gun misfired. Baldwin fired it with an actual live round.

Whoever loaded that gun is in for many lawsuits.

It was one bullet that discharged from the prop gun. The bullet went straight through the body of DP Hutchins and into the clavicle of the film’s director Joel Souza. The set was immediately locked down. Ambulance and helicopters arrived. Hutchins died en route in an helicopter.

What a tragedy.

The main question is who in the living hell loads a real bullet in a prop gun?!!

Whatever occurred on-set, Baldwin certainly didn’t intend for this to happen. And “Rust” is done. Lawsuits will now override any chance to that movie being finished.

UPDATE: Apparently the armorer [i.e., the gun person, different that the propmaster] went off set between takes and shot live rounds out of the Colt .45. The armorer apparently forgot to clear the weapon, so there was still a live round chambered. This is absolutely fucking unacceptable. The armorer is the one who should be held accountable.
