‘Borat 2' to Premiere on Amazon Prime in October; Mike Pence and Rudy Giuliani Pranked

“Borat 2,” which was shot in secret this year by Sacha Baron Cohen, and I’m hearing it plays like a very rushed and messy sequel, is officially being released by Amazon Studios right before Election Day 2020.

A recent WGA filing—since taken down— has this “Borat” sequel nonchalantly titled “Borat: Gift of Pornographic Monkey to Vice Premiere Mikhael Pence to Make Benefit Recently Diminished Nation of Kazakhstan.” Got that? The original 2006 comedy classic, a scathingly comic indictment of racist attitudes in the U.S, went by the equally lengthy “Borat: Cultural Learnings of America for Make Benefit Glorious Nation of Kazakhstan.”

The original ‘Borat’ was directed by Larry Charles, with a story co-written by Todd Phillips. We still don’t know who is directing this sequel. There are pranks said to involve abortion clinics, right-wing rallies, and Trump consiglieres Rudy Giuliani and Mike Pence.

Amazon is already revving up the hype machine, telling Deadline that“Baron Cohen and cohorts flew to various parts of the U.S. and internationally to shoot the film” and says sources told them the star “had to wear a bulletproof vest on two different shooting days and on many days, there were risky and dangerous scenarios in shooting.”

I was already aware of a test screening that occurred four weeks ago for this anticipated sequel. “Borat 2” is rumored to have Cohen’s Kazakh character “thinking he’s a big movie star after the success of the original 2006 film made him famous, so he tries to hide from the public by pretending to be someone else, and starts meeting and interviewing people using various different costumes.”
