Trailer: Netflix Original ‘Extinction' Starring Chris Hemsworth

April 7, 2020 Jordan Ruimy

"You want to survive, you do exactly as I say. Move fast, stay low."

Usually, if a movie has a line of dialogue, such as the one above, a red flag should be raised. However, I’m ready to give the benefit of the doubt to Netflix’s upcoming action thriller “Extraction” (04.24.20). The film comes to us from well-known stuntman-turned-filmmaker Sam Hargrave. Hargrave’s resume as a stuntman coordinator is also impressive, having worked with the Russo Brothers on “Avengers: Endgame” and “Captain America: Civil War.” Those same Russos are supporting their buddy Hargrave by producing “Extraction,” which also stars, “Thor” himself, Chris Hemsworth (Joe Russo also wrote the screenplay).

The plot, involving Hemsworth’s Tyler Rake embarking on a mission to rescue the kidnapped son of an international crime lord in India, seems secondary to the action sequences. With Hargrave at the helm, we’re expecting action-packed, edge-of-your-seat thrills and one look at the trailer showcases a well-shot and atmospheric Netflix original.

The film also stars Rudhraksh Jaiswal, Randeep Hooda, Golshifteh Farahani, Pankaj Tripathi, Priyanshu Painyuli, and David Harbour. Principle photography for the film wrapped up in March of 2019, why the one year delay between post-production and release?

Netflix will release the film on April 24th. Watch the first trailer below.
