Oscar Next: ‘1917' Dominates BAFTAs Winning Best Picture and Best Director

February 2, 2020 Jordan Ruimy

The BAFTA film awards have basically sealed the deal for  Sam Mendes’ “1917” to win the Best Picture Oscar next Sunday. Mendes winning Best Director for his one-take wizardry is almost a certainty as well. Also, the same four winners in the acting categories — Joaquin Phoenix, Renee Zellweger, Laura Dern and Brad Pitt — will win again at the Oscars. “Parasite” will win Best International Film, maybe even the Best Original Screenplay Oscar etc. Nothing revealing to see here folks, just, quite possibly, one of the least exciting Oscars in over a decade.
