In the wake of “1917” triumphing at the box-office this weekend, Vulture has concocted its list of the 50 greatest war movies ever made. You can click-see if you’d like, but I’d like to share my own top 15 of the genre as well (in no particular order):
Casualties of War, Black Hawk Down, The Deer Hunter, Patton, The Battle of Algiers, Platoon, The Dirty Dozen, Full Metal Jacket, The Great Escape, Dunkirk, The Hurt Locker, Come and See, Apocalypse Now, Saving Private Ryan, La Grande Illusion, The Thin Red Line, Paths of Glory
It’s now been 13 years since "The Grandmaster,” and it doesn’t sound like Wong Kar-wai will be making another film in the near future. His future seems to be on the small screen.
