‘Bombshell' Trailer: Charlize Theron, Nicole Kidman & Margot Robbie Star in Fox News Harassment Drama

August 21, 2019 Jordan Ruimy

Any movie that decides to tackle the off-air controversies involving Roger Ailes at Fox News will no doubt be steeped in prime controversy. “Bombshell,” a new movie by Jay Roach (“Meet the Parents,” “Austin Powers”) will tackle the late Ailes, who was the former head honcho over at Fox News, not to mention a serial sexual deviant.

We’ve already gotten an Ailes TV mini-series this past summer, with Russell Crowe taking on the role of the head honcho in “The Loudest Voice,” but Roach has decided to concentrate on the women in “Bombshell.” The same ones who tried to take on Fox News and Ailes in multiple lawsuits. This all eventually lead to Ailes being ousted from the company over charges of sexual harassment and workplace harassment.

Roach’s “Bombshell” has Charlize Theron as Megyn Kelly, Nicole Kidman as Gretchen Carlson and Margot Robbie as a fictional Fox News associate producer named Kayla Pospisil.

John Lithgow plays Ailes. The rest of the cast also includes Allison Janney, Kate McKinnon, Malcolm McDowell, Mark Duplass, Alice Eve, Brigette Lundy-Paine, Liv Hewson, and Alanna Ubach.

Why has this movie not been announced at the upcoming fall fests? Well, maybe it’s just not ready. Some are also insinuating that Lionsgate wanted to have as much of a time lapse as possible between the TV premiere of “The Loudest Voice” and the theatrical release of “Bombshell.” That is fair enough; the Showtime series aired its final episode on August 11th and, now, ten days later, we finally have a terrific teaser trailer (below).

Lionsgate is set to release the film on December 20, 2019.

Bombshell - In theaters December 2019. Charlize Theron, Nicole Kidman, Margot Robbie, John Lithgow, Kate McKinnon, Connie Britton, Mark Duplass, Rob Delaney, Malcolm McDowell, Allison Janney.
