Well, I told you so. Joaquin Phoenix ACES the role of the The Joker, or at least it looks like it based on the first trailer for Todd Phillips’ Upcoming origin-story “Joker.” Phoenix is so good in this trailer that you do wonder, is this another Heath Ledger-leveled performance of the villain? God, I hope so. Don’t forget that Martin Scorsese is producing this as well and shades of “Taxi Driver” are all over this trailer, including an appearance by none other than Robert De Niro himself. Maybe a possible bow at fall festivals? Who knows. but anticipation for this film just went up a notch, especially since this doesn’t look like a superhero movie at all nor does it feel connected to any caped crusaders.
The film is set to be released on October 4th.
