Greta Gerwig’s ‘Little Women’ is …

November 11, 2019 Jordan Ruimy

Due to an embargo that may very well extend into December, I cannot extensively talk about Greta Gerwig’s “Little Women.” I could easily just tweet about it since social media reactions are not being embargoed, but most people who are chiming in about Gerwig’s second feature on Twitter actually liked it. I tend to stray far away from tweeting about films I don’t like. Just out of common courtesy for the cast and crew of any given film. However, on this site the gloves always come off, the only problem is I am currently being withheld by embargo …

As for “Bombshell,” Jay Roach’s Roger Ailes/Fox News exposee has not yet screened. In fact, I am watching that film and Sam Mendes’ “1917” on November 25th. Before that, I have a screening of Todd Haynes’ “Dark Waters” and “Queen & Slim.”

Is that all that’s left before I can vote on my usual critics’ groups and compile my top ten list? Kinda, even though this year I may have to submit my picks before “Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker” is screened during the first week of December. Ditto Clint Eastwood’s “Richard Jewell,” which still has no screening date for us in Boston. Suffice to say, It’s going to be a busy few weeks ahead those of us looking to close the books on 2019 and start focusing on Sundance 2020.
