‘Creed III’ Causing In-Theater Brawls in France; De-Programmed From Numerous Theaters

March 8, 2023 Jordan Ruimy

I’m not sure what’s going on in France when it comes to showings of “Creed III,” but the film has definitely “inspired” some audience members to mimick Adonis’ ringside jabs.

There have been reports of brawls at numerous screenings of Michael B. Jordan’s Rocky spin-off over its opening week, beginning last Wednesday. You’d think the film was some kind of interactive event.

A viral video, posted on Twitter, shows what can only be described as an all-out brawl at a French screening of the third ‘Creed.’

There were around a dozen separate disturbances in cinemas in France over the weekend and a handful of independent venues have decided to take the film off their schedules. They fear it is too dangerous to continue showing “Creed III.”

Similar incidents reportedly took place in Germany with screenings in Bremen, Hamburg and Essen cancelled after the police were called in when fighting broke out.

There have been no reports of this sort of violence occurring Stateside. In fact, the film has been a smash success nabbing close to $60 million on opening weekend, an A- CinemaScore and positive reviews.
